Interested in attending the 2011 PGA Grand Slam of Golf at beautiful Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda? Tickets are now officially on sale for all you golf lovers out there and this year's tournament is sure to be a good one. Featuring an all-rookie field including Masters champion Charl Schwartzel of South Africa, U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy and Open champion Darren Clarke both from Northern Ireland, and from the United States, PGA champion Keegan Bradley, the three-day tournament begins on October 17 and will be televised to millions live on TNT (if you can't make it to sunny Bermuda, of course). It's $50 to attend the entire event (including the pro-am on day one) or $20 a ticket for each of the competition days. And if you're 17 or younger, admission is free when accompanied by an adult ticket-holder. Wanna check out championship golf in paradise? If you read Bermuda Shorts regularly you already know that I’m a huge fan of Port Royal Golf Course (and if you don’t, well, you should read it more often!). Not only does the course boast the greatest hole in golf—the signature 16th, which hugs the turquoise-hued Atlantic coast—but the ocean view eighteen also hosts the prestigious PGA Grand Slam of Golf, a year-ending tournament featuring the winners of the four major championships (the Masters, U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship for all of you taking notes). Last year the event was won by three-time major champion Ernie Els who defeated a talented field including U.S. Open Champion Graeme McDowell, PGA Champion Martin Kaymer and 2001 PGA Champion David Toms. And while the annual tournament is broadcast to millions of viewers on TNT, there’s nothing quite like seeing the event in person. Golf fans listen up, because this is the Contest of the Century.

Quiz: By the looks of my hair I've either a) Just rolled out of bed b) Endured a few shocks from the island electric chair c) Tested out a new "up do" or d) None of the above. If your answer was d then you've answered correctly, because that's just what happens when you play 18 holes of golf in 50mph winds. Sure, it's been 68 degrees and sunny for the majority of the month (otherwise known as Bermudaful weather in these parts) but on Tuesday the winds were howling at Port Royal Golf Course. You'd think I'd have the good sense to stay home, but alas, I was attending a press conference and subsequent tournament to celebrate the return of the PGA Grand Slam of Golf to Bermuda for the next two years. It's all fantastic news for the island, especially since the PGA just announced that it will grant first alternate status to last year's defending champion in case one of this year's major winners declines the invitation (ya know, like Phil Mickelson who totally dissed Bermuda last year). Which really just means we islanders will have a very good chance of seeing Ernie Els defend his Grand Slam title this Fall.
